| I was looking for a medium sized, plain, over the shoulder canvas bag to use on vacation. This bag is perfect with a large flap (velcro closure) that covers the main pocket (small umbrella, nylon windbreaker) and a smaller front pocket (digital camera and accessories), both with zippers. In back is a 3rd full size zippered pocket ideal for quick retrieval of maps and guidebooks. Perfect size, perfect design. |

I wondered if I should get this, given the wide range of reviews. Since I ended up getting it, I thought I'd add some clarifications here. Most importantly, both one-star ratings do not describe this bag... it doesn't have buttons, and it is not more than 14" wide. It is about 12 x 12" flattened and would not fit a magazine (unless you wanted to put it in the back pocket & it would stick out the top). Color is about how it looks here, maybe a shade lighter, but definitely army green.
The five star reviews are more accurate. In fact, it is even better than I expected from even the 5-star reviews. There are three zippered pockets - the 2 you can see in the photos plus another on the back of bag. Zippers seem sturdy and run smoothly. Inside main zipped pocket is a small 2-compartment no-zip pocket. Flap also velcros to that smaller front pocket.
The 2 star review person might be on to something or also might be describing a different bag. Now, this is just looking at it, but construction seems good enough, especially for the price (under $20 including postage)... some raw edges inside which might fray out eventually (or if washed) but otherwise construction seems sturdy and well-sewn. The outside seems finished nicely and in the main pocket the only raw edges are around the zipper, not in the bottom or sides of the bag. Canvas is a nice medium weight - not thin, not too heavy... I don't find it too stiff. I have eventually washed fabrics bags I've had like this; if it lasts until then I'll be satisfied.
Overall, seems like it is a nice every-day bag, just what I was looking for: I wanted something with a cross-over strap, at least one zip compartment (& hopefully more + inside small pocket) and that could fit a book without being too gigantic - I already have something just a little smaller than a messenger bag that is just unnecessarily big for every-day use. This is exactly what I was looking for and even better than expected.
I'll write again if it falls apart in a week or something, but so far, so good!

january 2008. I have continued liking this bag so much I was considering getting another. (There has been some fraying inside around the zipper, enough that some of it would get caught until I trimmed it, but that's been the only minor problem and otherwise I LOVE it - still great day bag and the one I use almost every day... it's really gotten a beating and I was surprised to see it was as long ago as August that I got it; I would have guessed it was more recent.)
Unfortunately, this bag here is NOT what I reviewed! no wonder there was the previous review problem. And I followed the link from my past orders page so something is definitely messed up. I had followed that link in the past to post my original review and at that time it did show the bag I had ordered. The bag pictured on this date does have flaps and buttons like the descriptions from the poor reviews previous to mine.

| got the bag today by fedex. i dont know what some reviewers are talking about. it looks like the picture. it is the right size. great color, right amount of room. i think some people expect more out of things. the bag is what it is a bag. i would buy this bag for others.. it would make a great gift. i am a designer, so i know about fashion. don't pass this bag up.. will worth the price.. it holds all the stuff a person needs for a days worth of work... |

In design, the bag is really quite nice and functional. The size is perfect. It just completely falls apart (pun intended) when it comes to material selection and assembly. I washed it ONE time to take some of the stiffness out of the canvas. My wife spent the next 3 hours trying to get it back together again. Now, I don't have the confidence in the bag to take on a trip.
In the end, fantastic design was crushed by inferior materials and execution. |

| I ordered this from Roger Enterprises and got it in record time! It only comes in one color, not sure what the other reviewer was referring to when she said she ordered another color, maybe she mixed this up with another bag. There are several pockets which make it very easy to organize your stuff, nice size, and what I like the best is you can just throw it in your washing machine if it gets dirty! |
