| Matisse Women's Park Avenue Toe Thong Sandal by Matisse NICE BUT..... | | OK SO I GOT THIS SHOE FOR MY MOM FOR CHRISTMAS, HER SIZE IT 8.5 SO I GOT THAT SIZE FOR HER, BUT TO MY DISMAY....IT DIDNT FIT HER, IT WAS A BIT TOO NARROW, OTHERWISE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFECT SO IF YOUR BUYING THIS SHOE MY BEST ADVICE IS TO TAKE IT IN A SIZE LARGER, AND WIDER. | | Matisse Women's Park Avenue Toe Thong Sandal by Matisse Beautifully designed in cheap materials and less-than sturdy craftsmanship. | The delicate and artfully-placed straps and heavily jeweled toe thong (not even Sawarovski Crystals, which you'd expect for the price) make this shoe stunningly stylish. However, for $103 a smart consumer would also expect sturdy materials and stolid craftsmanship-- preferably both. And this shoe has neither.
Soled in just a thin strip of plastic where some kind of rubber, wood sole or even cork would be better for grip, cushioning and long-term viability, these light-as-a-feather sandals feel like they will fall apart after a particularly long event like a wedding or formal dance. The top sole is thin leather (in the pewter)-- nothing rich, thick, sturdy or expensive about it-- in fact, it feels like a cheap vinyl! And fate forbid you yank one of those straps because they are sewed on with minimal stitching. Also, the dime-sized piece of rubber at the end of the heel started to wear down 5 minutes after I tried these on in the kitchen and walked around on linoleum!! Last but not least, the plastic sole is thinly-painted silver. After wearing them out to dinner for 3 hours, I came home with black smudges all over the sides of shoes where the paint had already rubbed off!!!! The heel looks all scratched up, like it was scraped along concrete!!! DISGRACEFUL.
NOT worth the $103 NOR the $77.95 with the $25 Amazon discount promotion I got. I couldn't even return them because of the worn-down heel from walking around my house! I did eventually find what I wanted in the MIA Women's Krystal Sandal (in pewter). My review of the Mia Krystal is on that shoe's product detail page. They were $60 and worth every cent.
